
Mikki Johnson grew up living in various towns in East Texas (Center, Nacogdoches, Lufkin, Tenaha, Ft. Worth, Elkhart, Beaumont and Nome). She studied at East Texas Baptist College, Lamar University, and Northeast Louisiana University. She has performed with the San Antonio Symphony Chorus, Marshall Symphony. She also performed in the Monroe Little Theatre production of "The Music Man" as well as other musicals in high school and college. She was named Outstanding Teacher for the A.L.Smith Elementary School and has served Tarkington I.S.D. for 25 years. Ten of those years were spent as Elementary Music teacher. Under her direction, the Intermediate Choirs grew from 25 students to 175. She has led the choirs to 3 consecutive Sweepstakes awards at the Port Arthur Solo/Ensemble Music Festival. She makes her home in Cleveland with her husband, Nickie, daughter, Jodi. She recently retired and her students along with the faculty at TMS will greatly miss.
